Practice Areas
At The Weisbaum Law
Firm, I help people solve problems. My law firm
represents individuals, families, and businesses in
matters related to family law, personal injury and
business contracts. Serving clients such as these
since 1991, I have a reputation as an effective
advocate who works diligently to get results for
clients. For more information about my legal
practice and my Rockville, Maryland law firm,

My law firm focuses on
helping people in areas such as:
Family law:
Family law is more than divorce. I help with issues
related to marital property (division of marital
assets, separation and property settlement
agreements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements),
child issues (parenting plans, child support,
custody and visitation), and other issues
arising out of the dissolution of the marriage
(alimony, use and possession of the marital home).
Separation
agreements: A separation agreement is an
agreement entered into between married couples
wishing to address and resolve issues that arise out
of a decision to separate and/or divorce. I counsel
couples in identifying, understanding and resolving
the issues that come up when a marriage ends. I
draft separation agreements for couples that wish to
resolve property, custody, and support issues, to
name just a few. I also counsel individuals who
wish to challenge existing separation agreements.
Divorce:
I urge divorcing clients to resolve as many issues
as possible using collaborative law or mediation.
These approaches are often less costly and usually
far less contentious than simply fighting about the
issues in court, where the divorcing parties lose
the opportunity to make the final decisions about
these important issues.
Child support:
Child support in Maryland is calculated according to
legally mandated “guidelines”. I can assist clients
in obtaining child support consistent with state
guidelines, or modifications to existing child
support orders that are no longer within guidelines
due to a change in income or some other material
change in circumstances.
Child custody
and visitation: I help parents work toward
custody arrangements that are in the best interests
of their children and work for them.
Collaborative
law and mediation: Collaborative law and
mediation are dispute resolution techniques that
provide parties with an alternative to litigation in
court. When the parties agree, either collaborative
law or mediation is an effective and oftentimes less
costly way of resolving issues. I have been trained
and certified as both a collaborative law
practitioner and a mediator.
Personal Injury:
For more than 15 years I have represented
individuals and the families of individuals who have
been seriously injured or killed as a result of the
negligent or wrongful conduct of others. I have
obtained significant monetary settlements and
judgments in simple and complex cases in Maryland
and the District of Columbia.
FELA and
Railroad Injuries: I have been representing
railroad workers in the D.C. metropolitan area, and
across the country for on-the-job injuries for
almost 20 years. Railroad employees are not
entitled to benefits under state sponsored workers’
compensation statutes, but instead are covered by
FELA (the Federal Employers’ Liability Act). FELA
is the exclusive remedy for railroad workers who
suffer workplace injuries caused by employer
negligence. It is critical that injured railroad
workers know their rights when they are injured on
the job.
Contracts and
Commercial Litigation: I represent
businesses and entrepreneurs in contract and other
business disputes. Mediation and other alternative
dispute resolution techniques are usually less
expensive than litigation. However, litigation is
sometimes the only way to reach a resolution. In
such cases, I am a vigorous advocate for the rights
of my client in court or during settlement
negotiations.
